Don't be scared of doing home improvements, says expert
16/04/2010
People should not be scared of doing some home improvement, according to JML's resident DIY and car care presenter.Andrew Bernard said with the right safety precautions in place, people will be able to transform their home themselves. He said: "Painting, decorating - simple stuff that if you call in a carpenter would cost you £140 a day plus material - you can do that yourself you just have to think it through, look what you are doing, maybe read up on it, check on the internet , it is that easy." But he added that there are some areas where people will need to consider calling in the experts. "When it comes to wiring, unfortunately DIY is out of the window you have to have a qualified electrician because of certain criteria with the government," he advised. According to interior designer Nina Campbell, who was writing in the Daily Telegraph, people should redecorate their homes every five years to keep the look fresh and new.
